If you follow our “Behind the Design” Web series then you have seen the latest Episode on the New White Kitchen. White kitchens have been all the rage the past few years and for good reason.

They are timeless, clean, bright and can be accessorized to your style with simple changes here and there without backing yourself into a trendy corner.

Unique tile or stone…

Some of these small changes can be using a unique tile or stone as a backsplash, as Katie did in this case. Countertop materials can be cut into many shapes and placed behind the stove or sink instead of wood or tile. This brings a much more modern flair to the space. Tile can also be used for a more traditional look or be laid in a unique pattern to bring a certain style into the space. All of these are much easier to change if they ever go out of style than cabinetry or countertops.

Mixing cabinet finishes…

Mixing cabinet finishes is also a great way to spice up the white kitchen. Using white on the uppers or island and using another color or texture in the opposite places can change up the space while still keeping with that clean, bright, timeless feel. In this case, a wood grain was chosen to give warmth and elevate the look.

Using countertop materials like Quartz…

Using countertop materials like Quartz can give the look of marble while being much more user friendly and last longer. This homeowner has younger children and wanted to have a very elegant kitchen but also needed it to be able to stand up to wear and tear that come with cooking for a larger family. Some other family friendly ideas in this space was a motion sensing sink faucet, fully functioning back kitchen to store all the not so nice looking accessories and a smart refrigerator that controls temperatures according to what is being stored.

This kitchen is a dream and perfect for its owner.

But each persons kitchen should reflect what is important to the family who uses it. White kitchens are in for the foreseeable future but why not take it up a notch with some amazing design?
